Shine on!

I love this song. And it doesn't hurt that the title was also one of my favorite UPC Day Camp themes (and t-shirts!). :)

Shine On - MercyMe

If we're to be the light
That shines for all of man
Then how can we light the way
If we don't go to them
I believe to know God's heart
Is to meet them where they are

Won't you shine on
Won't you shine on
You can shine on
Shine on

In all that's said and done
And everything you do
Just let your life glorify
The one who shines on you
I believe we worship Christ
When we show the world His light

Won't you shine on
Won't you shine on
You can shine on
Shine on

Shine on
Shine on

Won't you shine on
Won't you shine on
You can shine on
Shine on

Won't you shine on
Won't you shine on
You can shine on
Shine on

It’s never easy changing direction

Trust You - Brandon Heath

I can’t walk without watching where I’m going
I can’t speak without knowing what to say
I can’t love without any hesitation,
‘Cause I know that you don’t work that way
I can’t reach without something to offer
I can’t come now, I am so ashamed
I can’t hold out for you any longer,
‘Cause I know that you don’t work that way

I’m not gonna fight you anymore
I’m not gonna try to lock the door
You took your life and gave me yours
There’s no reason why
I shouldn’t trust you with mine

It’s never easy changing direction
It’s so unnatural to loosen up my grip
Are you growing weary of all my good intentions?
‘Cause I know that you don’t work that way

I’m not gonna fight you anymore
I’m not gonna try to lock the door
You took your life and gave me yours
There’s no good reason why
I shouldn’t trust you with mine

Some days this weight upon my shoulders is my shame
I know I should know better
‘Cause you say that I must now surrender
there’s no other way

I’m not gonna fight you anymore
I’m not gonna fight you anymore
I’m not gonna try to lock the door
I needed life, you gave me yours
You took your life and gave me yours
There’s no good reason why
I shouldn’t trust you

I’m not gonna fight you anymore
I’m not gonna try to lock the door
You took your life and gave me yours
There’s no reason why, no good reason why
I shouldn’t trust you with mine

Against the grain should be a way of life

If Today Was Your Last Day - Nickelback

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by

That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you're never living twice

Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?

And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you're dreaming of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you'd finally fall in love if today was your last day?

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are

So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?

And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you're dreaming of
Swear up and down to God above
That you'd finally fall in love if today was your last day?

Perspectives

Perspectives - Kutless

It feels like your life's crashing down all around you
Let me ask if it's really so bad
Look at the world in it's suffering
Can you honestly tell me that know one else could understand
All of the hurting inside

Why can't you see that freedom is sometimes just simply another perspective away?
Who could you be if your lens was changed for a moment?
Would you still be the same?

A young child looks through a great stained glass window
Watching the people go by
Everyone seems to be wearing a red coat
His mother sees jackets in white
Now he can't understand, why does she see it this way?

Why can't you see that freedom is sometimes just simply another perspective away?
Who could you be if your lens was changed for a moment?
Would you still be the same?

Yesterday, you really couldn't see
By changing your angle a new world would be
Revealed to your once blinded eyes by moving a few degrees

Why can't you see that freedom is sometimes just simply another perspective away?
Who could you be if your lens was changed for a moment?
Would you still be the same?
